Wharton Gladden Supports Triad Charities
(Greensboro, N.C.) June 2, 2009 — Wharton Gladden & Company, a private boutique investment banking group, announces today the creation of the Wharton Gladden Power of One Fund to support local charities in the Piedmont Triad that provide services to those suffering from homelessness, substance abuse, and domestic violence. The Firm sponsored a fundraiser for the Fund on May 30 at the Piedmont Club – Algenon Cash’s Charity Roast.
Over 100 local business owners and executives attended the event and supported the Fund through monetary donations. These monies will be directed to local charities in the Triad to assist with their programming needs during a down economy. Wharton Gladden committed to donating a percentage of annual profits to help establish the Fund and its ongoing efforts to improve the local communities.
“Our firm has a deep understanding of the power of giving and we accept our responsibility to be good corporate citizens” said Cash. “It is not enough that we earn profits in the Triad without reinvesting back into the long-term success and health of the local communities.”
Cash consistently gives of his time and talent to local non-profits, but is eager to support these great causes during a time of distress. “Most charities have to cut staff and services; however, this is a time that the less fortunate is in need the most.”
