Wharton Gladden Announces Civic and Community Appointments for Managing Director Algenon Cash
(Greensboro, NC) July 30, 2013 – Wharton Gladden is proud to announce that Managing Director Algenon Cash, local community leader, was selected as a Fellow for the Institute of Political Leadership and elected a Board Member of Forsyth Futures. These additional posts affirm the company’s investment in new pipelines of leadership locally as well as across the state.
Graduates of IOPL have and continue to serve at every level of North Carolina government. Michael Pearlmutter, executive director of the institute, is pleased to have Cash as a Fellow in the 2013 fall class. “Fellows are selected for the program based on their experience in serving their community, their interest and passion for politics, and their desire to become true public servants in North Carolina, whether it is through elected or appointed office or serving their community in other ways,” Pearlmutter said. “The skills he will learn in media, ethics, campaign mechanics, and governance will benefit Algenon in the future in whatever path he chooses for his public service.”
IOLP Fellows exchange ideas in politically, culturally, and philosophically diverse climates, building relationships with current and future leaders with whom they will interact throughout their careers. The 11 week session with the Institute of Political Leadership is designed to educate future political and community leaders in modern campaign strategy, ethical decision making, and governance. “IOPL has been training our future leaders for decades, and I’m honored to join a growing list of community advocates,” Cash offered. “I absolutely love the community, and it’s a real pleasure to share my time and talent.”
Cash also believes that Forsyth Futures will play a crucial role in assisting elected leaders with developing substantive public policy. Forsyth Futures was established in 2006 and is a non-profit collaborative of residents, organizations, and institutions working together to address critical community issues covering sectors including environment, economic, education, health, safety, and civic engagement. Cash accepted the invitation to serve on the Board of Directors for Forsyth Futures because of the organization’s significant work in the areas of housing, economic development, and financial literacy.
Executive Director Dr. Doris Paez said, “Forsyth Futures was pleased that Mr. Algenon Cash, managing director of Wharton Gladden & Company, joined its Board of Directors. His unique understanding of the economic, educational, communication, and leadership factors that affect the Forsyth County, N.C. community has assisted us in our strategic thinking about the organization’s roles as a non-profit provider of objective local data and catalyst for action.”
Cash concluded, “It’s truly a pleasure to use my deep community experience to help further develop the organization and provide strategies for growth.”
