(GREENSBORO, NC) April 21, 2014 – Wharton Gladden and Company Managing Director Algenon Cash was recently appointed to America’s Energy Forum as National Director as well as the advisory board for the Center for Design Innovation.

America’s Energy Forum (AEF) is a non-partisan community focused on achieving balanced energy policy with a goal of energy independence. Cash is currently the chair of the N.C. Energy Forum, which is one of 27 members of the AEF. As minority engagement director, Cash will travel throughout those 27 member states speaking and building awareness in the minority community about domestic energy sources and the potential jobs that those sources could generate.

Cash’s appointment to the Center for Design Innovation (CDI) is a three-year term. The CDI is a multi-campus research center within the University of North Carolina system intended to drive economic development in the Triad through design-focused creative activity. Based in Winston-Salem, CDI fosters collaboration between UNC School of the Arts, Winston-Salem State University and Forsyth Technical Community College. Cash serves on the board of the Forsyth Tech Foundation.

Cash co-founded Wharton Gladden & Company, a boutique investment banking firm whose services include financial advisory, capital placement, asset management and private equity. He impacts the community by serving on volunteer boards, speaking to student groups and partnering with non-profit organizations through the Power of One Fund, which the firm established in 2009. In addition to the above appointments, his leadership includes the North Carolina Council on Economic Education, Forsyth Futures, Wake Forest University and the Winston-Salem Symphony.
